Recently I saw the movie Don Jon, and it actually had a relevant message in it. Basically without giving much away it talks about the lack of social interaction and connection we have with those around us. Our society's norm has become clicking of computer keys and mouses instead of meaningful in-person conversations. It actually made me think, and the more I thought about this the more irritated I became. I work from home everyday and if I really wanted to- I wouldn't have to see or talk to anyone at all. EVER. Its crazy to me how much technology has progressed within the last 20 years. Seeing what teenagers have now as far as their iPhones, Facebook, instagram, etc is insane. Even though its only been 6 years since graduating from high school, no one really had facebooks back then. We had text messaging and myspace but having person-to-person interactions were normal. Dating meant seeing someone in person, asking them out and then going out with them. The mall was where you'd meet boys- not Instagram.
This lack of personal interaction seems to have spread everywhere…and I'm starting to notice it more and more as time goes on. From what I see, people would rather hit on people online then in person. I understand that behind a computer screen its much less daunting to ask a girl for her number without being rejected to your face but… c'mon people!
Where do we draw the line between convenience and hiding?
Life isn't all about clothing, what your lifestyle "looks" like, and what kind of swag you have when you walk around. I've been wanting to write about this crap for a while, so onto my Don Jon inspired outfits. lol just kidding. I think getting this conversation going is important, especially to those who live a lot of their lives online.
Have a great day!
