My last day off for the week, I worked out early which I hate but it feels good to get it out of the way. I hate to say it, but I love working out in my Brandi Melville tops... I got this one for like $12 on Black Friday so I don't feel as wasteful wearing it to soak in sweat. I actually went to the mall as well today and it was tempting but I only spent like a half an hour in there buying a few makeup products I needed. When you aren't shopping for more clothes and shoes you sure spend wayyy less time in there. It was actually kind of nice making productive use of my day today rather than stressing over how much money I spend on clothes. For some reason though, on my days off I automatically go shopping. It is some kind of stress relief for me, I'm pretty sure like exercising- it releases endorphins that make you happy. While shopping has always made me happy, that feeling doesn't last long. And soon after, that shirt or dress or pair of shoes just gets shoved into the back of the closet forgotten about until further notice. I'm starting to understand why everyone thought I had some kind of shopping problem, because I kind of did...I mean do. Isn't that the first step?
Lol well anyways, Cort and I are headed off for drinks so I know I said I'd be wearing sneakers but I'm sorry ladies wearing sneakers out and about to a nice place is just not cute. Any way you spin it, even if you have on a chic top knot, dark lips, amazing jeans and top- the fact is...you are still wearing sneakers to a bar and you are over 15. I stay away from that look unless I'm looking for that old man from Family Guy.

Damn u Hautelook!
Woke up this morning refreshed, it was my day off and I had a lot of errands to run and cleaning to do at my house...Look at my emails in bed and see Joe's Jeans on Hautelook, they're like $70. FML!!!! I had to take a look and surprisingly even though my mouse was hovering over the "add to cart" button I kept my composure and didn't give into temptation.
Like I said, today was my chill day so I threw on my Brandi Melville Nirvana top, this has become my go to chill top. It gets kind of hoochie because of the cut out sides and I don't like my business all out and about while going to Target. I found this two tone jean jacket from Urban on sale a while ago, I think I paid like $30 for it. I apologize for the state of my shoes, they have had a long and dramatic life. I probably should've purchased another pair before I decided to go on this no shopping mission because I think these little babies are on their last leg. They were my 2nd pair of Jeffrey Campbells and I wore them to death, and they are my favorite style of Jeffrey Campbell. Whenever I see them in a color I don't have, I snag them right away.
Cort is posing on our instagram all the time so please follow us: @fashionsharks (is that how they do it now?) I'm so not a part of the social media world when it comes to instagram, facebook, twitter, whatever else people do...I'm completely out of the loop. I think I'm the only 23 year old in LA without a Facebook. So bare with me with the lack of social media hot spots. I have however made my first instagram collages on an app I got yesterday. Cort you should be so proud!
Anyways, hope whoever reads this has had a great day! Tomorrow is my day off as well so I'll try to put together something wearing flats or dare I say...sneakers??

Alexander Wang faux swag
Today was another normal day of work, I decided since the weather was so nice to throw on a good ol' maxi dress. I had been eyeing the T by Alexander Wang maxi dress for forever, and was going to drop the $180 or whatever it was for the long sleeved maxi dress maybe 2 years ago. While in Boston I found this extremely similar maxi dress from H&M for like $24 I'm not sure if they carry stuff like this anymore because I got it so long ago. These kind of basic key pieces you will have forever and you can style it in many ways, I decided to go simple (mostly because I woke up late- hence the messy pony tail and lack of heels). I wore my feet out yesterday and last night running around in heels so I decided to give my feet a break. My dress and shoes together cost under $50, whoot!
I've decided to start doing weekly challenges involving a few key pieces that I have to style throughout the week, stay tuned for that.
Not sure if anyone reads this yet but I am really enjoying my new blog :)
Day 4...361 left to go!

I think Nordstrom wants me to fail
I swear everyday something else ironic happens pertaining to my new "resolution." I got the mail and it was none other than $20 gift certificate to Nordstrom for spending way too much money on my Nordstrom's card. Again I had to laugh a little, my dad says I should just spend it on coffee at the Nordstrom's cafe but I am eyeing these free bird boots "Stop Ariel!" *slaps on the wrist* anyways I will link that below in case anyone wants me to live vicariously through them...
Today was another day of tedious and frustrating work, but afterwards I had a really fun date night hence the outfit change. I kept on the same jacket, which I purchased recently from H&M that looks surprisingly expensive. I believe it was only about $34, and is from their denim line but reads as more of a black coated jacket.
I'm still going strong and am able to look but not touch....

We're Doin It!
Today I had to go into work unfortunately, the thoughts of shopping go through my head a lot when I'm at work. The monotonous tasks that I have to do daily make me want to online shop. I look at hautelook.com, urbanoutfitters.com, nastygal.com, solestruck.com, and shopbop.com religiously, but today...I don't know that number I saw last night is sticking in my brain and the thought of buying more useless shit makes me sick. We'll see how long this feeling lasts...hopefully longer then a few hours :)
I'm obsessed with 2 things right now...Crop tops and long sleeved leotards. I love the American Apparel ones because they are very versatile, the only thing is...the sleeves fall down a lot and the back can expose my bra. Other than that, I am slightly tempted to get this in every color they offer. I'll have to conceal my urge for...11 months, 12 days...and like 12 more hours. Lets go!
Day 2...363 LEFT TO GO!

The Last Urban Outfitters Order of the YEAR!
Its funny I thought of this idea today because the moment I walked to the door there were 2 Urban Outfitters packages waiting for me. I had to laugh at the irony. Most of these items were purchased for my trip to Boston in February (don’t get crazy, I know I don’t need mittens and earmuffs for LA)
Items I received:
1. BDG Faux leather cropped jacket
2. Daydreamer Crop top
3. Convertible gloves knit
4. Leopard earmuffs
Wow I spend wayyy too much money
I had just gotten off the phone with a girl at Joe’s Jeans because I had to order ANOTHER pair of coated denim. They didn’t have my size in the Santa Monica location so they had to order it from Atlanta, which was $20 more then if I had picked it up in store. I did not care so I gave them my credit card information.
When I checked my bank account to make sure I was charged for my jeans I looked at the bottom right corner of the screen. There was a small graph that displayed what my earnings were, what I spent, and what I spent my money on in the last 6 months. When I looked at how much I spent on “fashion” I nearly threw up. 14,000 dollars in 6 months, for what?
I promised myself I would never become one of those people that spent more then they had. I don’t have 14,000 dollars in my bank account so I’m officially now one of those people.
Fashion is my thing, styling, blogs, great sales, and designer labels are things I live for. I’ve been using the excuse “as long as its my money its okay” or “I pay my bills on time so who cares how much I’ve spent.” When I saw how much I spent I felt like I really had lost control of reality. The overwhelming amount of regret I felt in that moment made me really feel the need to get it together. I decided to make a change and challenge myself, I will not spend one penny on any new clothes or shoes in 2013.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not the kind of person that makes new years resolutions. Obviously this has to be true because its now January 18, but this year I need to change my ways.
I’ve talked my friend Cortney into this, and we both live for the thrill of shopping. Now we need to live for the options we already have, and make it work.
Alright well…Day 1, 364 left to go!!!
Excuse the iphone quality, I can't find my camera charger--bare with me til I find it :)
